In June, 2010 a new California law goes into effect that requires doctors to post signs in their office or otherwise inform patients how they can file quality of care complaints to the Medical Board of California. This law is a result of the concern that Californians are not filing enough complaints about their quality of care since the state ranks 41st in he country in regards to disciplinary actions against physicians.

The new law requires doctors to provide a notice with the name, phone number and Web site of the medical board. Supporters of this law belive that encouraging patients to provide information about doctors will help uncover issues of misconduct and as a result the quality of care will improve in the state.
