Q. Do members of a household have to select the same plan or can family members select different plans, whether or not they receive premium assistance?

A. Covered California allows family members to enroll in different products and plans with or without tax credits. This is known as "split families". Currently the online system does not process split-families. These types of enrollments will require exception processing manually until January 1, 2014.


Q. During the open enrollment period is it acceptable to terminate a plan and buy a new plan?

A. Yes, if your new application is processed prior to 3/31/2014 you may switch plans for any reason.
